The Gunfield Kennel was established in 1999 by Mr Andrew and Mrs Katy Olsson who are located in the small rural village of Sutton Bonington in Leicestershire
Since we began breeding the Vizsla we have been commited to breeding soundly constructed dogs with a steady temperament, good health and natural hunting ability while keeping inbreeding coefficients low and breeding true to type Hungarian Vizslas.
The variety of bloodlines available to us within our own breeding program is unique to us in the UK, we have invested enormously into the Hungarian Vizsla breed by importing thirteen top quality Vizslas from Hungary and the USA to further the gene pool for ourselves and other UK breeders.
The Gunfield Vizslas are not "just pets" they also working gundogs who work on beating line and picking up at four different shoots, The attributes that make good gundogs are also vital for making good family pets, such as good temperament, trainability, good construction and health.
Dogs of our breeding have proven themselves in a variety of activities such as working gundogs, agility dogs, therapy dogs, UK Working Test winners, UK Field Trial winner , Hungarian Vizsla Society highest scoring FT Vizsla of 2007, CRUFTs qualifiers Overseas show winners, but by far our biggest achievement is producing many adored companions who have bought great happiness to so many peoples lives you can read what their owners have to say about us on our recommendations page .
At the Gunfield Kennel we are proud to be able to offer USA & Hungarian imported Vizsla stud dogs at stud and correctly bred and lavishly reared Hungarian Vizsla puppies for sale to work, show or pet homes.
Katy Olsson is a qualified canine psychologist and trainer and as such can offer behavioural advice to Vizsla owners.
Vizslas of our breeding can be found in Show, work and pet homes all over the the UK and as far a field as Jersey, Hungary, France, Denmark, Germany, New Zealand and Bermuda and the USA.
